This is a beautiful historical old coaching inn (once owned by Henery viii). The beds are comfortable, the food is very good and the ambience is excellent.
Nothing too much trouble. Rooms excellent and all in good locations (family event so we had a lot) location is great. Plenty of parking, very nice grounds with rivers all around. Outside view does not do it justice at all.
Very high standard of Suite Rooms; tastefully decorated; comfortable bed and excellent size bathroom & shower; good bar area.
Experience somewhat let down by poor receptionist. Dour demeanour, said very little and generally not what a hotel wants to give as its first impression/contact with guest
The hotel was perfect for me, an elderly lady travelling on her own, who had reason to meet up with friends and relations.
friendly staff, recently refurbished and good location for hungerford (which has many antique shops) and surrounding countryside
the room and staff were excellent , the court yard is ideal for a relaxing dring and is thoughtfull to smokers and none smokers , free wifi ok if u can get signal in court yard rooms .
The facilities & comfort of the room
A bit of a warren finding my room
Lovely rooms, though beware that the kitchen closes at 9.30pm as the staff will repeatedly tell you if you would like to get a (quite pricey) meal after a long journey. We therefore found 2 lovely pubs and a marvellous curry house in Hungerford, both very welcoming. Our room was in the stable block and incredibly high spec and comfortable.
Just a shame there wasn't a warm ambience in the bar / restaurant which, though nice enough, is a little sterile.
The quality of the room facilities is excellent. The TV has several channels. The decor is smart and the bathroom is pristine. The Hotel information in the room is detailed and the booklets are useful.I will definitely stay here again.
I knew the hotel as it was and liked it, but I did also like the re-modernisation. Room 9 was a delight, spacious, comfortable, huge bed, lovely bathroom. Faced the main road, but awoke to a Saturday morning so not too bad for traffic. Position near the river very pleasant, also Hungerford is not far off motorway, handy. It is a very historic hotel, so read up before setting off, makes the stay more interesting. Got a bargain on price so that's the main reason I stayed here.
Manager must not be wanting to sell his San Miguel. £4.00 a pint, I bought one without being made aware of price then took off to a pub! Breakfast at £15.00 so didn't bother, don't think many did. I thought everyone understood we are in an era of severe austerity.
Nice hotel, could not fault it in any way, if i need to stay in that part of the country again i would return to this hotel.
Relaxed and friendly staff Informal dining arrangements, ie bar menu could be served in restaurant, and vice versa.
Room rate was very expensive, but this seems to apply throughout the uk?
Basic amenities are missing. No 24 hour hot water. In the morning I am used to shower at 5am. There was no hot water. At 6 I called for help. Staff were prompt to arrive. But I had to wait again for the water to be heated. TV controls are very difficult. I had to call for help. Again help arrived after 15 mins. They showed but still I could not change the channels and get the full screen view. Thank God I left early.
Location, also friendly staff in the dinning room
Woken very early in the morning, by people above us moving around as the above floorboards were sqeaking very badly.
I thought it was not good value for money, very expensive for a hotel on a main road. Rooms very nice, but traffic noise not good. If you are wanting a reasonable priced hotel, then it is ok, but the food is very expensive. Wouldnt be my first choice in future.
